Chesham’s Big Clean Switch – do your bit today!

Sustainable Chesham have partnered with Big Clean Switch to try and help people in Chesham to use more renewable energy at home. It’s cheaper than installing solar panels and it’s a way of reducing your carbon footprint with relatively little effort.

Energy companies now make it so easy to switch – and we’ve found that the Big Clean Switch service is super-easy to use and guarantees that your electricity is from 100% renewable sources.

We conducted a community survey in summer 2021 to find out more about energy usage in Chesham households. We wanted to find out who was already using green energy. Who was prepared to switch and what prevented people from switching in the past.

We also asked what kind of information people needed to encourage them to switch in the future.

Now we have completed the community survey this will inform our marketing campaign which will be rolled out in September 2021.

If you are ready to switch please go to this link to our partner Big Clean Switch here.  For every switch made with the link to Sustainable Chesham (select from a drop down menu) we will receive 50% of the switch fee (approx £10), which will be put towards a sustainable community project in Chesham.

What is renewable energy?

Renewable, or ‘green’ or ‘clean’ energy comes from natural sources or processes that are constantly replenished. So this is energy generated from the elements – sun, wind, water (rivers, tides or wave power) and biofuels (gas released by rotting food and agricultural waste). Unlike electricity generated by burning fossil fuels (oil, coal and gas), renewable energy has little impact on climate change and air pollution.
