Re-wilding project idea for Coop field
Sustainable Chesham are working with Chesham Town Council led by Layla Redway, a Masters student, to look at the feasibility of re-wilding Co-op field in Chesham.
Layla is working with Trevor Brawn to research the viability of various ideas to improve the biodiversity of the field.
Trevor has been trying to get some more features into the field to improve the biodiversity – bee scrape, wetland area, bee hotel and a herb garden to introduce an edible element, but this would have to be drought resistant.
There is lots to consider to create a space for the whole community to enjoy.
Nigel Crawley from Tring in Transition is also helping with his permaculture expertise.
The council are interested in having a sample of lots of different elements of biodiversity so that local schools can benefit from the project in the future.
The plan is to create an area for all sectors of the community to enjoy the field whilst increasing biodiversity.
